The Bright Wings Chorus: Traditional and original American harmony and gospel.

March 29 at 4:00. Buy tickets here

The Bright Wings Chorus is a group of 9 singers who perform traditional and original American harmony. Soulful, rhythmic and soaring, the Bright Wings repertoire includes shape-note hymns, Appalachian ballads, and gospel songs. Shaped by years of touring with Northern Harmony and other prominent choral ensembles, a Bright Wings Chorus concert is a moving experience.

For this tour. the group will be working with Dr. Rev. Donna Cox, a gospel leader from Ohio, to deepen their understanding and performance of songs from the gospel tradition. These will take their place beside new original work and selections from their two recorded albums, Signs and Wonders and Here Below. Of their first album, featured in The Utne Reader, someone has said: ”If you are moved by the sacred, if you need music that takes hold of your bones and won’t let go, you should own a copy of Here Below. It’s simply the most powerful stuff I’ve heard in a long time and I don’t know what to do with it except tell you over and over that you must have it.”
